Remember the day,do you?
when it rained
bankrupting your legs
of their balance,
the sewers cheered as
hundreds of bottle caps
fell through,the bottles
long overused
stood beside you
echoing your voice
there were colourless impressions
of those who passed ahead
for a moment or two
in the puddles
before they
broke into laughter,
widening as the drops
fell harder
and
for a breathless minute,
you thought
there was no returning today
from the brink
"bankrupting your legs of their balance."
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful phrase. It is not just weather that does this. We ourselves are the rain makers...chanting or raging, or quietly sucking moisture into the thunder cloud of our next words. We cause harm. We are harmed, But the we are the dual ends of so many candles that the world will always be well lit with stories to tell.
Annie,
ReplyDeleteWelcome back....i hope you had a good time away and also that you missed our little corner of town here...It rained here in Pune(for a minute or two) after nearly 5-6 months...It was like the age that would never come...and then it passed away too quickly...We do have stories to tell...always
