All alleys of the world
are pinned to the wall
like old calendars with
windows to better days,
Pages fly off them
like wooden houses
kept on the walls
of cemeteries visited
by gloomy meadows,
The rain pours down
like wrath from a gun,
the pastures outside
seem like my morning bread
invaded by an army of insects,us

Pastures outside as morning bread makes me think of manna. The same, over and over and over again. Funny to think that from an arial view, we are as insects, and from the insect view, giants. Can we shape shift with perspective? If so, we are never the same two calendar days in a row.
ReplyDeleteAnnie,
ReplyDeleteI think we can...or in fact we do..i just hope our soul has a low center of gravity and remains in place...Whenever the calendar loses a page it is one memory lost or a face once we wore...
i really liked this. the first two lines gripped me and the subtle last line wrapped it all up neatly.
ReplyDeleteand i wonder if you know how brilliant this is;
like wooden houses
kept on the walls
of cemeteries visited
by gloomy meadows,
not to mention giving wrath to a gun
this was really good.
if youre wondering who i am, you'll have to ask annie. she chased me here with a stick
glad she did

Rick,
ReplyDeleteThank you for running as fast as you could...i'm a little slow in posting these days...the tranformation to employment and thus a hefty work schedule is taking its toll...it is very hard to do what you want to do...i constantly keep looking for alternatives that would allow me to embrace literature...
Annie is wonderful...maybe a tad modest about the virtues of her own imagination and the way she presents it...Her appreciation makes me feel more at home when i come here....and i miss home when i'm away...thank you for stopping by...
